DragonForce est un groupe anglais de power metal formé à Londres, au Royaume-Uni par Sam Totman, Herman Li, et ZP Theart en 1999. Leur style combine des caractéristiques des genres speed et melodic. Ils sont de plus très connus pour leur jeu de guitare très rapide. Le groupe, au départ (1999), a été formé sous le nom de DragonHeart, mais des problèmes avec un groupe brésilien éponyme les ont forcé à changer leur nom en DragonForce avant de sortir un quelconque album commercial. La carrière de DragonForce a commencé avec la sortie de leurs toutes premières chansons : Valley of the Damned, Revelations, Starfire, Black Winter Night, et Disciples of Babylon, (que l'on retrouve sur leur démo intitulée "Valley of the Damned") , sur la première version du site MP3.com, les propulsant ainsi au top des chansons power metal sur ce site. DragonForce a par la suite acquis une grande popularité, publié trois albums, beaucoup tourné de par le monde, aux côtés de Helloween, W.A.S.P. ou Iron Maiden. Ensuite, ils ont fait leurs premiers concerts en tête d'affiche, accompagnés de nombreux groupes tels que Mendeed ou Sabaton. De plus, ils ont partagé la scène (parfois en tête d'affiche, parfois en première partie, suivant le pays) avec Edguy et Angra. Le 28 octobre 2005, le bassiste Adrian Lambert quitte le groupe afin de se consacrer à l'éducation de son fils. Le 23 novembre 2005, DragonForce annonce la signature d'un contrat chez Roadrunner Records pour le Royaume-Uni, la France, l'Australie et la Nouvelle-Zélande. Roadrunner leur permet de sortir leur dernier opus en date, Inhuman Rampage, le 9 janvier 2006 dans les pays sus-cités. I went to Herman Li's guitar workshop at Dawsons in Reading on the 27th of April and i have to say it was one of the best things i have ever been to. Really cool guy and an awesome guitar player :)
