Fleetwood Mac est un groupe de rock dont on peut diviser l'existence en deux parties bien distinctes, même si on retrouve des membres communs à chacune de ses périodes. Le Fleetwood Mac britannique : Composition : * Peter Green : Guitariste et chanteur * Jeremy Spencer : Guitariste et chanteur * Danny Kirwan : Guitariste et chanteur * John McVie : Bassiste * Mick Fleetwood : Batteur Le Fleetwood Mac britannique est un des plus célèbres groupes de ce qu'on appelait le British Blues Boom à la fin des années 1960. Il s'est constitué en 1967 autour de 3 anciens membres des Bluesbreakers de John Mayall. Il s'agit du bassiste John McVie, du batteur Mick Fleetwood et du guitariste et chanteur Peter Green. Ces 3 hommes sont rejoints par le guitariste slide Jeremy Spencer. Le groupe s'appelle alors officiellement le Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. Guitariste virtuose (il avait remplacé Eric Clapton au sein des Bluesbreakers), et compositeur de qualité, Peter Green est le véritable leader d'un groupe qui joue un blues-rock tout en finesse et en introspection, à contre-courant des autres groupes majeurs du british blues (Cream, Ten Years After, Jeff Beck Group, Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin) , dont la surenchère technique et sonore est en train de donner naissance au hard-rock. Des compositions telles que Black Magic Woman (immortalisée plus tard par Carlos Santana), ou encore Albatross, Man of the World symbolisent à merveille le style du Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac et cotoient les reprises de vieux standards du blues. A partir de 1969, le Fleetwood Mac est rejoint par un troisième guitariste, en la personne de Danny Kirwan.
