Jennifer López est une actrice, productrice et chanteuse américaine (d'origine portoricaine, "boricua") née le 24 juillet 1969 à Castle Hill dans le Bronx, New York. Elle a pour pseudonyme J. Lo. Biographie Son père, David Lopez, est informaticien et sa mère, Guadalupe, puéricultrice. Ils sont d'origine portoricaine. Jennifer a 2 sœurs : Lynda (journaliste) et Leslie (professeur). Toute petite, 5 ans, elle suit des cours de danse, tout en suivant un peu plus tard les très sévères cours d'école catholique du Bronx d'abord la Holy Family School puis le lycée Preston pour filles. « J'ai fréquenté pendant 12 ans des écoles catholiques. Tous les soirs, je priais Dieu pour qu'il m'aide à sortir de là. La religion était en fait mon seul recours. » Le sport lui réussit également (elle pratique le tennis et la gymnastique). Elle commence sa carrière d'actrice à l'âge de seize ans, elle fait ses débuts en tant que danseuse dans des spectacles musicaux, elle est remarquée par des agents lors d'une audition et tourne son premier film, en 1986, My little girl. Elle joue par la suite dans la série américaine Livin'Colors pendant quelques saisons. Jennifer suit en même temps des cours de danse et rêve de devenir Madonna ou Janet Jackson. C'est sa participation dans Money Train qui lui ouvre les portes de la célébrité. Jennifer enchaîne les rôles qui la placent comme la star latino la plus prisée d'Hollywood. L'année 1995 marque ses vrais débuts au cinéma avec My Family de Gregory Nava. Ce premier rôle ne laissa pas la critique indifférente puisqu'elle se voit citée à l'Independent Spirit Award. L'année suivante, elle remporte un concours pour incarner le rôle-titre du film Selena, qui retrace la vie de la populaire chanteuse ...
