Modern Talking est un groupe allemand constitué de Dieter Bohlen et Thomas Anders. C'est en 1982 que Dieter Bohlen (auteur/compositeur/producteur) rencontre Thomas Anders (interprète) qu'il va produire en solo. Après quelques titres, en allemand, dont une reprise de Fr David (Pick Up de Phone) et de Real Life (Send Me An Angel), les deux hommes décident de former le duo Modern Talking courant 1984. Leur premier titre "You're my heart, you're my soul" devient rapidement un des hits de l'année 1985, annonçant une déferlante de tubes internationaux. Entre 85 et 87, ce ne sont pas moins de six albums qui sont ainsi produits. Le groupe atteint l'apogée de sa notoriété en 1986 avec le titre "Brother Louie", seul single jamais entré dans les charts britanniques. Les tensions entre les deux hommes empirant, le groupe se défait courant 87, après une soixantaine de millions de disques vendus. Dieter Bohlen monte une nouvelle formation "Blue System" dont il a la totale maîtrise puisque endossant aussi la casquette d'interprète. Thomas Anders entame une carrière solo dans un style plus "pop/rock". A la surprise générale, les anciens collaborateurs se retrouvent en 1998 pour reformer le duo qui avait fait leur gloire et le succès est à nouveau au rendez-vous puisque leur album "Back for good" (un best of remixé) se classe meilleure vente mondiale de l'année. Dieter Bohlen connaît les recettes d'un "hit" et les applique à la lettre pour les 5 opus suivants, mais une fois de plus le marché européen, mal desservi par leur maison de disque, les boude. Le naturel revenant au galop, les deux hommes finissent par se séparer courant 2003 pour les mêmes motifs qui avaient vu la fin du groupe dans les années 80 : Dieter décrivant Thomas comme un dilettante, ...
