Description of the artist The Beach Boys
The Beach Boys était un groupe de rock américain des années 1960 et 1970. Le groupe se compose au début de Brian Wilson, Dennis Wilson, Carl Wilson, Mike Love et Al Jardine. Au fil du temps, d'autres musiciens sont intégrés au groupe, soit définitivement soit temporairement : Bruce Johnston (à partir de 1965) Dave Marks (sur les trois premiers albums à la place d'Al Jardine, puis plus tard, épisodiquement) Ricky Fataar et Blondie Chaplin sur l'album "Holland" Glen Campbell à titre intérimaire en 1965. The Beach Boys sont un groupe pop-rock américain. Leurs productions les plus intéressantes appartiennent aux années 1960, même s'ils restèrent en activité jusqu'en 1996. Le groupe est une formation majeure de l’Amérique des années 1960, seul capable de rivaliser avec la vague anglaise emmenée par les Beatles. La musique des Beach Boys, inséparables du génie de leur leader Brian Wilson, n’a cessé de s’étoffer au fil de ces années : le style léger de la surf music des débuts a laissé la place à partir de 1965-1966 à une pop music d’envergure dont le sommet est l’album Pet Sounds. Les problèmes psychologiques plongeant Brian Wilson dans une léthargie durable, le groupe a perdu, à la fin des années 1960, sa place d’honneur dans la musique rock internationale. Les Beach Boys ont toutefois connu quelques retours surprenants dans les décennies suivantes, ravivant ainsi leur image de mythe californien vivant.
