A quick look around the Giant Vegetable Competition at the Harrogate Show. These are hideous looking specimens grown purely for bulk and not for quality or looks. The complete opposite of the exhibition part of the show. This year the Guinness World
Weighing this years Giant Onion after it had stopped growing. Will it get to the magical 10 pound mark ?
Time to prepare the growing media for this years giant onions. These will be grown in 60 litre pots so I need to prepare about 360 litres in order to plant just 6 out. I'm using the same as last year which consists of 2parts Jacks Magic 1 part John
Latest veg garden fortnightly allotment tour with a bit of an update on the Giant Marrow plants. Harvested a few bits and pieces too like lettuce beetroot courgettes and some new potatoes.. Total onion disaster in the polytunnel as they've all gone
2 weeks after sowing this years Giant Onion seed they are now at the "crook" stage and ideal to transplant into 3" plant pots. Just a matter of carefully extracting the seedling with all roots intact and dibbing it into a 3" pot of well drained

Mixing this years Giant Onion Growing mixture for the containers. I'm using a combination of Loam, compost, perlite, Worm Casts and some other organic plant stimulants this year. Hoping that this year I can finally grow a giant onion above 10 pounds.

A last look at this years Giant and Exhibition Show onions growing in my light chamber before planting out in early April. So far things are doing really well with the exhibition kelsae ones about 18" tall with 6 leaves on in their 1.5 litre pots.
An update of this years Giant Onions so far in the grow room. They are growing bigger and faster than ever this year and will hopefully be planted out into the polytunnel at the end of this month. I think it's the addition of the mycorrhizal fungi
