The earth would end if a giant super volcano exploded or if a nuclear holocaust broke out wiping out the everone on the planet. Subscribe to American Eye http://goo.gl/GBphkv 5. Alien Invasion While this may seem a tad farfetched, people need to take this possibility more seriously. While the universe is a vast, mysterious place, alien life could be out there. With the chance of other life in out there, it’s possible that the conditions on their planet got so over polluted or destroyed by a supervolcano like we mentioned on this list, that they need to start life somewhere else with similar conditions to their home planet. And it’s very possible that they will not come in peace. Either they will completely enslave mankind as we know or they will attempt to wipe us off the planet permanently. Who knows exactly how advanced their technology will be and if we can even put a dent into their invasion plot. Would we even be able to put up a good fight. Worst case scenario, At least we know we might be able to scare them off like they did in the movie Mars Attack with a strange song. 4. Robot Takeovers While people are creating smarter and smarter robots, it makes you ponder the possibility of robots taking over as well. We’ve all seen the movies or tv shows that depict robots taking over the world and being extremely advanced but this is very much a possibility some day in the future. Robotics designer Hans Moravec, one of the founders of the robotics department at Carnegie Mellon University, strongly believe that robots will match human intelligence by the year 2040. It’s even possible that at this time the robots will begin to start feeling human emotions of compassion, empathy and even love. Some believe that by this time, humans and robots will begin to develop loving relationships and therefore, thus not making as many babies. Some day when robots, learn to create other robots on their own, we may be in serious trouble. In the book, IRobot, it discusses some possibilities. Some robots could be programmed accidently to kill and just go on massive killing sprees, which brings me to my next one. 3. Mass Insanity It seems like each day, people just continue to lose their minds. In many countries, mental health has improved, but obviously in other ones it seems to be steadily declining. The World Health Organization estimates that 500 million people suffer from a psychological disorder. We’ve all seen, even recently, mass shootings, bombings, and the increase in terrorism. Some predict that depression, in 2020 will be the leading cause of death right behind cardiovascular disease. The increase in mental health disorders is likely from the increase in life expectancy now and increases in medical technology. Someday they believe we might even be able to live to 200 years old! Many current medications that doctors prescribe we are taking everyday could have future side effects that we don’t know of. What will this eventually lead to and can our species handle the large amount of mentally unstable people in the future? Only time can tell. 2. Global Warming There’s no doubt about it, the earth is getting warmer, ice caps are melting, there’s more carbon dioxide in our atmosphere than ever before. If the polar ice caps continue to melt we will notice, our major cities beginning to flood. Since so many people chose to live so close to the coast or other bodies of water, this could be devastating. The increase in temperature could also make earth a better host for parasites who prefer the warmer climates. This could mean our crops are eaten, meaning less food and a famine will strike. Earth could end up similar to Venus if we are not careful where a typical day is about 900 degrees farenheit. 1. Ecosystem Collapse Mother Earth has tried for so long to give humans the resources it needs to survive, when all we do is abuse her. What if someday she just gives up? A complete collapse of our ecosystem seems to be an unfortunate possibility with the slaughtering of elephants, destroying the rainforests and hunting of whales. People are not able to realize that our ecosystem is extremely fragile and the extinction of one species can have dire consequences. To meet the demands of our ever growing population, countless species have already gone extinct. Will we be next?
