30 Seconds to Mars est un groupe de rock alternatif américain, originaire de Los Angeles, en Californie. Il est fondé en 1998 par l’acteur Jared Leto et son grand frère Shannon Leto. 30 Seconds to Mars est présentement constitué des membres suivants : Jared Leto (Voix, Guitare) Shannon Leto (Batterie) Tomo Milicevic (Guitare) Tim Kelleher (Basse) (Non officialisé, ne joue que lors des tournées, non présent sur les albums studios) Braxton Olita (Clavier, Guitare, Samples) (Non officialisé, ne joue que lors des tournées, non présent sur les albums studios) Leur style de musique est quelque peu unique, décrit à l'occasion comme étant du space rock - soutenu parfois avec l'utilisation de synthétiseurs - particulièrement au début de leur carrière, soit au lancement de leur premier album 30 Seconds to Mars. Leur style s'adapte facilement. Des paroles de chansons énigmatiques, obscures, combinées à des mélodies de guitare électrique nous amènent à les comparer aux maitres de l'art tels Pink Floyd et Depeche Mode. Fait ignoré de beaucoup, Jared jouait de tous les instruments et chantait toute la partie vocale sur leur premier album auto-intitulé 30 Seconds to Mars (sorti en 2002) à l'exception de la batterie jouée par son frère Shannon. Les autres membres du groupe ne se sont joints qu'après le lancement du disque et commencèrent la tournée à partir de ce moment. Le second album, A Beautiful Lie, fût lancé en 2005 après que le groupe a passé de nombreuses années à voyager et à collaborer à la recherche d'inspiration.
