Avril Ramona Lavigne (Belleville, Ontario, 27 septembre 1984) est une auteure-compositrice-interprète pop-rock canadienne. Elle connaît le succès depuis les début des années 2000 en ayant vendu 30 millions d'albums à travers le monde et 14 millions de singles. Ses plus grands tubes incluent "Complicated", "Sk8er Boi", "I'm With You", "My Happy Ending" et "Girlfriend". Avril Lavigne est née le 27 septembre 1984, à Belleville dans l'Ontario. Elle passe toute son enfance à Napanee, une petite ville de 10 000 habitants de l'Ontario. Elle est la fille de Judith Loshaw native d'Ontario, et de Jean-Claude Lavigne, mais ses parents sont communément appelés "Judy et John". Le père d'Avril Lavigne est né en France et est parti vivre avec sa famille dans la province de Québec alors qu'il était encore en bas-âge. Malgré ses origines françaises de par son père, ainsi que ses nom et prénom, Avril ne parle pas un mot de français. Elle ne peut donc pas communiquer avec sa famille paternelle qui ne parle quasi-exclusivement que le français. Avril a un grand frère (Matthew) et une petite sœur (Michelle). Elle décide de devenir chanteuse dès son plus jeune âge. Soutenue par ses parents, c'est à l'âge de douze ans qu'elle écrit ses premières chansons. Passionnée par la musique, elle emprunte la guitare sèche de son père jusqu'au jour où elle reçoit la sienne, apprenant à en jouer d'elle-même. À partir de ce moment, elle y consacre la majeure partie de son temps. Elle joue sans cesse la même chanson : Fly Away de Lenny Kravitz.
