Black Sabbath - Wheels Of Confusion - The Straightener - Solo (improvisation) Vintage vs6 SG Guitar rig 4 Virtualdub E-mu 0404 pci Lifecam Cinema... hi to all, especially all the sabbath fans! This is my second upload of this solo, as the first was out of sync, and quality was degraded by youtube conversion! hopefully this one is better, as i didn't convert it before uploading. I chose the solo from wheels of confusion, or the straightener as it is also known! i think it's something to do with the american release! anywhooo! i chose this as it's one of my favorite sabbath tracks, and is a classic i'm sure you sabbath fans will agree! also there doesn't seem to be many uploads covering this track especially the solo section! now before you purists start giving me grief saying this bit and that bit ain't right, this is my interpretation of the solo, and totally improvised! i've listened to the track and tryed to pick out the main phrases ect! my sg was tuned to C# F# B E G# C# ! setup ect! just in case anyone asks, Vintage sg vs6 goes right into behringer xenyx 502 mixer! mono output goes right to E-MU 0404 PCI CARD mono in! signal opened in GUITAR RIG 4 using preset (soloist) also the backing is in grig4 tapedeck, the backing i used is from the original track, theres a couple of measures just before the guitar parts start, which i cut out and looped together in sonar with a fade in and out on the ends! i actually looked all over the web and couldn't find a backing track for this song! signal from gr4 is then picked up from emu's patchmix application wich is like a mixer showing all ins & outs, i then sent a (SEND) from patchmix to VIRTUALDUB to do the actual recording of video and audio on the fly! webcam is microsoft lifecam cinema, but i don't use the lifecam software i'ts shit! Virtualdub is best, video could be better but it's at night with artificial light and the webcam seems to overcompensate for it! but you can get really good hd quality with it in the right light and tweaking settings in virtualdub! i think that's about it, i just hope the video and audio is in sync when it uploads! if it isn't i'll have to delete and try a different converion technique and or settings! finally i really hope i have done this awesome sabbath track some justice! one can only try one's best at the time! hope you enjoy! cheers...Der..
