A Navy pilot with the Blue Angels aerial acrobatics team is believed to be dead, following a crash in Smyrna, Tennessee. According to NBC News, the Navy confirmed that no parachute deployed during the incident, which occurred around 3 p.m. local time on June 2nd. The elite flight squadron had recently flown into the Smyrna airport for an air show, scheduled for the first weekend of June. Smyrna City Manager Harry Gill told reporters the pilot was killed shortly after takeoff when his plane went down about 2 miles from the runway. Authorities said no one else was believed to have been injured, and added the pilot's five colleagues landed safely moments later.
