Once there was a time-before 9/11-when the catwalk at Maryland's Conowingo Dam was open to all. Here is a rare video, from that time, with incredible detail of the walk and the dam itself. It was great to have been able to do this before the permanent closing of the walk (we first inquired within about a tour of the power plant-offered at the time-but we got there too late). Watch as we walk to the very end of the lower catwalk-where the turbulence from the operation of the turbines made it a very "freaky (for lack of a better word)" experience! Not to mention the overwhelming sound of the turbines themselves! Also included are views showing the river bank before the recent concrete fishing area was built.
