Fever Ray est le projet solo de la Suédoise Karin Dreijer Andersson, chanteuse de The Knife, projet qu'elle peaufine depuis 2006, la sortie de l'album de son groupe, Silent Shout. Elle profite ainsi du hiatus qui met entre parenthèses la carrière du duo qu'elle forme avec son frère Olof Dreijer pour s'ébrouer seule sur des rives enténébrées. Le premier single extrait, « If I Had A Heart », circule et cartonne sur le net dès la fin 2008. Son premier album "Fever Ray", édité via Rabid Records, le label qu'elle gère avec son frère, voit le jour l'année suivante : en mars 2009. En références diverses pour l'inspiration de cet opus, Karin cite : Fugazi, Aphex Twin, CSS et Yo La Tengo. Plus tard dans l'année une version deluxe (contenant un dvd incluant 6 clips vidéos et 2 reprises) est mise en vente le 13 novembre. Un single contenant les 2 reprises est également auparavant mis en vente, le 02 septembre, pour compléter l'album des premiers acheteurs de Fever Ray : "Stranger Than Kindness / Here Before".
