L'Anglaise Jessie Ware est née le 15 octobre 1984 au sud de Londres. Elle débute en tant que choriste aux côtés de Jack Peñate et Man Like Me. Tout comme Sade avant elle, Jessie Ware s'échappe vite du second plan pour collaborer en 2010 avec SBTRKT sur le titre Nervous. Elle récidive en 2011 en étant présente sur l'album de Young Turks. 2011 est aussi l'année du titre, « Valentine » qu'elle partage avec le chanteur et producteur Sampha, puis quelques mois plus tard suit son premier single totalement solo « Strangest Feeling ». La jeune chanteuse se construit alors un univers entre soul et electro, qu'elle complète d'une image sophistiquée. Son premier album Devotion entre directement à la cinquième place des ventes anglaises.
