Moonstone is an Hack&Slash/RPG game. It was made and published by Mindscape International Ltd. It came out in 1991 for the Amiga and one year later for MS-DOS Ahh what a wonderful old game. Seems like it is some fantasy "beat 'em up" at first but it basically is a Hack&Slash/RPG genre mix. You select a Knight with a color of your choice and then start your quest to find the Moonstone. To do that, you have to fight through hordes of monsters, Duel the dreaded Black Knights and even have to slay a Dragon. Eventually you find the 4 keys you need to acquire the Moonstone You travel over the map and enter so called "Lairs" where you find monsters of all kinds and if you survive their attacks then you can take your loot from the chest. What is in there is randomly created by the game everytime a "New Game" has been started so you just have to look everywhere. You level up by surviving the Lairs. And when you have 3 level ups you can add one Attribute to your character (strength, constitution, endurance) The game gets more difficult the more powerful you are. So if you have 100 HP and a lot of strength then you will fight against hordes of monsters instead of small groups but it is definately more fun this way. There is no way of saving your progress, you have to play through the game at once. The game takes about 2 hours to play through depending on how lucky you are and how well you fight. To make things a bit easier you can restore your lives when you return your knight to your home town. Although you can repeat it any time, you will only get 3 lives if you do so. To get more lives you can go to the stonehenge in the middle of the forest and sacrifice a magic item. Then you will get a life. There are also towns/cities which you can go to and buy some armor, swords and health potions and so on) Multiplayer is also supported. Every player takes the role of 1 knight and everyone has the same mission, find the Moonstone. If 4 players are in the game there will be no Black Knights anymore. Eventually you have to fight against each other. All in all it is a pretty nice game. Its a fun when you are bored as you can practically go through the whole thing in 1 or 2 hours.
