O Come All Ye Faithful Adeste Fideles Vocals Lyrics Version of this Christmas Carol by John Francis Wade. The original lyrics for the popular carol "O Come, All Ye Faithful" were written in Latin as Adeste Fideles. The song has been attributed to a number of authors including English hymnist John Francis Wade (1711–1786). Along with Wade the tune composition has been attributed to a number of composers including – John Reading, George F Handel, Christoph Gluck, and Thomas Arne. The translation to English was written in 1841 by English Catholic priest Frederick Oakeley – the current harmonisation is from the 1906 English Hymnal. The song has been recorded by many musical groups and single artistes and appeared in the 1989 film “National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation". This vocal version is from the Jingle Punks. The image shows the Magi (3 wise men or kings) riding camels and following the star to Bethlehem and the birthplace of Jesus – which reflects the content in the 1st verse.
