Description of the artist Opeth
Opeth est un groupe suédois (Stockholm) pratiquant un mélange de Metal mélodique et envoutant tant qu'aggressif et technique. Leur style s'apparente à la fois au death metal et au metal progressif, tout en empruntant à nombre d'autres styles (jazz rock, folk et acoustic, etc). D'une part, le groupe emprunte aux styles les plus brutaux à travers des chants gutturaux et des séquences instrumentales très agressives tandis que de l'autre, il se distingue par des séquences progressives mélodiques, parfois même douces et envoûtantes, de longues pistes instrumentales de guitare acoustique, et un chant clair tout autant utilisé que les chants gutturaux. Cette apparente dichotomie est présente dans tous les albums du groupe bien qu'à des degrés différents, ce qui rend sa classification dans un style musical d'autant plus complexe.
