Rod Stewart, né le 10 janvier 1945 à Londres, est un chanteur de rock britannique. Miraculé de la Seconde Guerre mondiale (une fusée V2 s'est écrasée à deux pas de chez lui), Rod Stewart est issu d'une famille écossaise — il est d'ailleurs le seul de sa fratrie à ne pas être né en Écosse. Tout d'abord tenté par une carrière au Football Club de Brentford, il découvre la musique à 12 ans lorsque son père lui offre une guitare. Personnalité incontournable du Rock'n'roll britannique presque depuis ses origines, Rod Stewart est dans l'entourage des futurs Kinks, Fleetwood Mac et Rolling Stones, mais il ne connaît un véritable succès qu'en 1967 au sein du Jeff Beck Group, puis de The Faces dont il est la tête d'affiche. Il obtient de nombreux succès en tant que chanteur solo : « Maggie May » en 1971, n° 1 en Angleterre et aux États-Unis simultanément avec l'album dont il est issu (Every Picture Tells A Story), « Sailing » en 1975, « Tonight's the Night » en 1976, « Da Ya Think I'm Sexy? » en 1979 , « Passion » en 1980, « Young turks » en 1982, « Baby Jane » en 1983, « Some Guys Have All The Luck » en 1984, « Every Beat Of My Heart » en 1986, « Forever Young » en 1988, « Downtown Train » en 1990, « The Rhythm Of My Heart » en 1991, « All For Love » en trio avec Bryan Adams et Sting en 1994. Au cours des années 2000, il abandonne le Rock FM pour devenir un authentique crooner jazzy. Rod Stewart renoue avec le rock en 2006, avec l'album Still The Same..Great Rocks Classics, un opus de reprises notamment de Van Morrison, Bob Dylan et John Fogerty.
