Les Buggles ont été formés en Angleterre en 1979, par le duo Trevor Horn (chant et basse) et Geoff Downes (claviers). Ils ont fait tous les deux leurs débuts en tant que musiciens de studio, acquérant une certaine maîtrise. Ils déboulent à la fin 79, avec un premier single "Video Killed the Radio Star", devenu culte et référence. Le titre atteint directement les premières places des charts britanniques. Le clip est le premier à être diffusé sur une chaîne musicale en 1981. Le duo sort d'autres tubes, avec deux albums "The Plastic Age" (1980) et "Adventures in Modern Recording" (1982), mais préfère la production. C'est ainsi que les deux acolytes travaillent pour le groupe Yes, sur l'album "Drama", en 1980. De cette collaboration, Trevor et Geoff prennent la place de deux des membres du groupe (Wajeman et Anderson) et intègrent Yes. A la mort du groupe, Downes part travailler avec Asia et Horn monte le label ZTT Records, sur lequel il produit Frankie Goes To Hollywood et ABC. Read more on Last.fm.
