A color, silent home movie by former Wanamaker Organ curator Henry A. Baecker shows one of the last encampments of students of the John Wanamaker Commercial Institute at Camp Wanamaker in Island Heights, NJ. Wanamaker Hall can be seen in the distance. Cadets both worked at the Wanamaker Stores in New York and Philadelphia and received a mercantile education there. Each received a two week vacation at this shore resort that was filled with group activities. It seems likely that one of the major reasons there were large pipe organs in each of the Wanamaker Stores was to accompany Cadet choral and band activities.
