Yiruma (qui signifie l'accomplissement en coréen) est un compositeur et pianiste. En dépit de son origine coréenne, Yiruma est connu dans le monde entier, et ses albums sont vendus partout, aussi bien aux Etats-Unis, en Europe ou en Asie. Un de ses morceaux les plus connus est "Kiss the rain". Yiruma est née à Séoul en Corée. Il commence à jouer du piano vers l'âge de 5 ans. À 11 ans, il part en Angleterre ou il étudie la musique à Purcelle. Ensuite il s'inscrit au King's college (université) où il étudie avec des artistes tel que Harrison Bertwistle. Il est repéré très vite pour son talent et produit son premier album classique sous le label DECCA. En janvier 2002, Il devient le premier coréen à jouer au célèbre festival MIDEM de Cannes (France). En 2004, Yiruma rejoint la scène japonaise avec une chanson qu'il compose pour la série "Fuji TV" (Tokyo Wankei ou destin de l'amour). Son "best of" a été diffusé en octobre par Universal Music Japan suite a sa performance au célèbre Tokyo Orchard Hall et le Kawaguchi renommé Lilia Hall de Tokyo. Après avoir composé la BO de la série "A Winter Sonata" il gagne l'admiration de nombreux coréens. Il devient, grâce à cela, un modèle de publicité pour la G-cube et Yamaha Corée. En tant que grand compositeur, il obtient pour son album "The yellow Room" plus de 30 000 pré commandes. Puis la sortie de "Nocturnal Lights...They Scatter" en 2004 le place en première position des ventes coréennes. En hiver 2004, il entame une tournée de 23 arrêtes(tous à guichets fermé) dans tout le pays. Avec le temps, les musiques de Yiruma évoluent. Il rajoute au piano des instruments comme l'harmonica. Il poursuit aussi la mise en musique de film aux modèles instrumentaux divers
