Shaggy, ou de son vrai nom Orville Richard Burrell, est né le 22 Octobre 1968 à Kingston, et est d'origine jamaïcaine. Il sort son premier album, intitulé Pure Pleasure, en 1993, dont l'un des extraits les plus connus est Oh Carolina. En 1995, il obtient un Grammy Award, grâce à son album Bombastic et le single du même nom, Bombastic, connaît un succès mondial. Malheureusement pour lui, qui supporte plutôt mal cet échec, l'album suivant, est loin d'être apprécié par le public. En effet, l'album Midnite Lover, publié en 1997, se vend peu. Dans la période suivant cet échec, et la venue de l'album suivant, il ne fera pas grand chose, excepté deux musiques de films (Luv Me, Luv Me et Hope). En 2000, vient alors l'excellent album Hot Shot. Le premier single, It wasn't me fut d'abord découvert grâce à Internet, ce qui a eu pour conséquence la vente 3 millions de disques. Une autre année importante dans la vie de l'artiste, n'est autre que 2003, année de l'album Lucky Day et du fameux single Hey Sexy Lady, dédié bien entendu aux femmes, dont le clip vidéo ravira les hommes. Le dernier album en date est Intoxication, sorti en 2008. Anecdotes : Il fait partie du club fermé des artistes jamaïcains à être reconnus mondialement. Il garde précieusement sa vieille télévision, en souvenir de l'époque où il n'était pas riche.
